October 17, 19-23 (Possibly holding over until the 30th)
House (1977)
9:00 p.m. regularly, 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th.

Not to be confused with the 1986 cornball film co-starring “Bull” from Night Court, House,
by director Nobuhiko Ôbayashi, is a psychedelic trip into a possessed
home that wants nothing more than to swallow a gaggle of teenage girls.

October 23, 24
Kuroneko (1966)
11:30 p.m.
Tickets are $8.50
Pair it with House, and get ready for a double dose of Japanese terror! Set over 1,000 years ago, Kuroneko,
by director Kaneto Shindo, was adapted from Japanese folk tales filled
with black cats, a haunted bamboo grove and a variety of ghosts.
October 18
The Hands of Orlac (Musical Scoring Event)
7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Twenty of Akron’s most talented musicians and bands were provided short clips from the 1924 silent Austrian horror film The Hands of Orlac,
and given the task of creating an original musical motif to match the
scene. On October 18th the entire film will be screened with the new
musical tracks synced to the picture. Previous scoring events have
included the films The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Aelita: Queen of Mars.
October 25
Halloween (1978) with a musical performance by Analog Fog
8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
Tickets are $10.00
The original John Carpenter classic, Halloween,
has been remastered for the big screen and will be shown at The
Nightlight for only two performances. Preceding the film will be a
performance by the local John Carpenter Tribute Band, Analog Fog, which
will cover themes from Halloween, The Fog, The Thing and more.
The
featured beverage for this evening will be The Great Pumpkin, a tasty
brew made of apple cider, ginger brew, and rum served from a carved
pumpkin. Finally, Michael Myers, the villain of the Halloween series (or at least a staff member dressed like him) will be in attendance to greet visitors and pose for photos.
October 30
Blood of the Freakishly Short Animation Festival
7:00 p.m.
This is the only program that will take place at the Akron Art Museum
Tickets are $5
Now
in its sixth year, the Freakishly Short Animation Festival is back with
eighty minutes of animated shorts from around the planet. Sometimes
funny, sometimes creepy and sometimes thought provoking, the FSAF has
become a perennial favorite. This program is recommended for people 13
and older.
About The Nightlight, Tickets and Parking
The Nightlight is located at 30 North High Street in downtown Akron. It
opened on July 1, 2014 thanks to a key grant from the John S. and James
L. Knight Foundation. Tickets are $8.50 for general admission and $7.50
for children under 12 and seniors over 65, unless otherwise noted above.
Parking is available at meters on High Street as well as at the parking
deck next to the Akron-Summit County Library. Both are free after 6
