The 38th Cleveland International Film Festival, presented by Dollar Bank, is proud to announce that its Opening Night film on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 will be NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING

The film is directed by John McKay and produced by Claire Mundell and co-produced by Wendy Griffin at Synchronicity Films, with David Solomons as screenwriter.  This gentle, stylish, and quirky romantic comedy stars Karen Gillan, Stanley Weber, Amy Manson, Iain De Caestecker, Kate Dickie, Freya Mavor, Gary Lewis, and Henry Ian Cusick.

NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING tells the story of struggling publisher Thomas Duval (Stanley Weber) who discovers his only successful author, Jane Lockhart (Karen Gillan), has writer’s block; and it is up to him to unblock her or he is finished.  With her newfound success, she’s become too happy and she can’t write when she’s happy.  The only trouble is, the worse he makes her feel, the more he realizes he is in love with her.

NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING is backed by the British Film Company and Creative Scotland, with international distribution from LevelK.

Opening Night of the 38th CIFF is sponsored by Parker, the company that can be found on and around everything that moves – including moving pictures.

Tickets to the Opening Night Gala are $125 per person ($100 for CIFF members).  The Gala includes the film at 7:00 p.m. at Tower City Cinemas, followed by a NOT ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING party at 9:00 p.m. at Post Office Plaza in Tower City Center.  Special guests will include director John McKay and actor Henry Ian Cusick.  Additional special guests TBA.
