Heard it on the Radio

Cleveland Movie Blog contributors Pam Zoslov and Charles Cassady, Jr. will be appearing on the Around Noon show on Cleveland's public radio station WCPN 90.3 FM this Thursday January 6th.  At the name of the show implies, it's on around noon, or more precisely right at noon. If you can't get the station in on your radio dial, you can listen online at WCPN.ORG.

Metaphorical Milk

THE MILK OF SORROW, one of the five nominees for last year’s Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, makes its Cleveland debut this weekend at the Cleveland Museum of Art's Morley Lecture Hall.  It's the second feature directed by Claudia Llosa, the niece of Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas.  Llosa investigates the legacy of violence toward women during the Peruvian Civil War. In the film’s metaphorical conceit, a rape victim transmits a psychic illness to her daughter through her breast milk.  The film shows Friday January 7th at 7pm and Sunday January 9th at 1:30pm.
